  Empathetic.

  I can see where you're coming from. I don't like it when posters boast of humiliating JWs at the door with snarky put-downs and whatever. But sometimes the JWs call at the most inconvenient time. Or we've just had a bad experience with a JW family member which makes our blood boil. Or we reflect back on times when we had a good social life, or lots of business, and due to leaving the JWs, even being only inactive, we've lost all those "friends". Or we DO try to say something to make them think, and they come back with some braindead reply.

  So sometimes the JWs at the door get the brunt of our frustrations. It may not be fair, but they called at our door, not the other way round.

  my mom says dont say happy easter cause she is not a part of babylon the great...i said 'happy easter' to my brother as a joke and my brother goes back and tells my mom like were little kids (i'm 29 and he's 27 with a new baby by the way) and my mom writes me a lengthy email about how i shouldnt joke about babylon the great.

  i am 29 years old, 29. and i can't joke around.

  i know all j-dubs arent like this, but a lot of them are just like my mom.

  this was a younger brother in one of my prior congregations that i used to go out in field service with in the early 1990's.

  we always had the most enlightening conversations and we went out and did recreational things from time to time.

  he seemed like a normal guy.

  I agree with you that on the surface Watchtowerism doesn't support terrorism.

  However, the black-and-white thinking, the idea that 99.99% of the world population deserves to be killed for being God-hating heathens is something that could be taken to the nth degree by someone who for whatever reason entertained such ideas that were originally started by the WTS.

  I am not saying that the WTS teaches such an idea, just as mainstream Islam doesn't teach about killing infidels. BUT... it's the non-mainstream, black-and-white thinking that takes things out of proportion and becomes a fundamentalist terrorist.

  We don't know the guy's mental state so it's not fair to speculate but I will say, I can see how someone who sees things in black and white and raised as a JW could transfer that fundamentalist thinking into fundamentalist Islamic beliefs.

  When 9/11 occurred I said the same thing. I can see how someone who is that way inclined could go to a way of thinking most of us would automatically reject.

  i just read this in our local newspaper this morning and thought it is very interesting.

  this law is aimed at door to door marketing by companies but i am wondering if this may end up including religious 'sales persons'.

  the comments below the story are worth reading as jw's and religious callers are definitely who many people want stopped under this new law.. .

  Bird brain...

  i just mentioned this in another random comment so i thought i'd mention it on the off chance someone else is as boring as me.. a wt publication once talked about a bird i will never forget... the arctic swift.

  it travels further than any other bird and migrates across the world.

  with no gps or map how can any animal do this unless god designed the bird with instinctual earthly knowledge?.
